Kleider machen Leute

Und wieder sind die Proben für die nun nahe bevorstehende Premiere von Jacques Offenbachs Opéra-bouffe "L' île de Tulipatan" und die Chinoiserie musicale "Ba-ta-clan" ein gutes Stück forangeschritten. Geprobt wird mittlerweile in dem fast fertigen Set, in Kostüm und Maske. Bei den ersten Kostümproben geht oft alles ein wenig drunter und drüber, was aber nur zu verständlich ist, da die Sänger sich ja ersteinmal an ihr Bühnenoutfit gewöhnen müssen. In den nächsten Tagen bis zur Premiere wird sich Routine einstellen.
Gestern fand die Klavierhauptprobe statt, das heißt, ab heute wird ausschließlich mit Orchester geprobt. An dieser Stelle bedankt sich das Team noch einmal ganz herzlich bei der Korrepetitorin Tatjana Kandyba, die bis hierhin die Proben meisterhaft am Klavier begleitet hat.
Nun geht es also tatsächlich in den Endspurt! In fünf Tagen ist Premiere und die Aufregung ist den Mitwirkenden anzumerken. Es gibt immer noch viel zu tun, jeden Tag wird geprobt und anschließend arbeite ich noch mit Regisseur Waut Koeken und Lichtdesigner Glen D'haenens bis spät Abends an der Beleuchtung für die Show. Anstrengende Tage, aber die Erfolge die zu verzeichnen sind, entschädigen mehrfach für die viele Arbeit.

Fine feathers make fine birds

Another step toward the now nearby opening of opéra-bouffe "L' île de Tulipatan" and chinoiserie musicale "Ba-ta-clan"! The costumes are there, and we are now rehearsing in the almost ready set, with make-up and everything. The first dress-rehearsals are always a little messy, but that is okay, because the cast has to get used to acting in, sometimes, extraordinary costumes. And they will during the upcoming last days of rehearsal.
Yesterday we had the final piano-rehearsal. That means, from now on we will exclusively rehearse with orchestra. A big thank you to pianist Tatjana Kandyba, who accompanied the rehearsals so far on the piano.
Well, those are the final days now! The opening is in five days, and excitement is written on everybodys face. There is still a lot to do. We rehearse every day, runtroughs basically, and afterwards, I am working together with director Waut Koeken and lighting designer Glen D'haenens on the lighting for the show till late at night.
Hard work, hard days, but the success we can see rewards our efforts big time!
