“Atelier, la Voce dell’arte” – Press Release: Fedora Award 2009 edition
The balance of this year edition of Fedora Award is extremely positive: the number of compositions participating to the Award increased and we had composers coming from different foreign countries, three women among them.
The members of the prestigious international panel (Lyell Cresswell chairman, Holger Bleck, Giovanni Bietti and Christian Buchmann, Maurizio Schmidt was absent for health problems) worked in perfect harmony in the elegant frame of Grand Hotel Dino in Baveno and selected two interesting scores to be now completed by their composers. The panel accurately examined fourteen different compositions: five form Italy, two from Greece, two from Great Britain, one from Ireland, one from Georgia, one from Australia and two from United States. The selected operas are: Garland, by the very young British composer Adam Scourfield, Gelsomino, by Italian composer Stefano Seghedoni.
The great audience success of the worldwide première of “Jacques”, best composition in first edition of Fedora Award, in Hotel Dino Music and Congress Hall has to be pointed out. A very high level cast of singers and a brilliant direction contributed to enhance the significant originality and cracking pace of its music and libretto. “Atelier, la Voce dell’arte” Association, Wiener Kammeroper and Wiener KammerOrchester started negotiating terms and schedules to bring winning composition to Vienna and around Europe. We conclude by affirming that we made another step forward so that the Fedora Award will have the chance to reach ever growing recognition in future editions.
